How does Sparkle Reader's work?
We've developed Sparkle Reader's to help create a more fun and personalized reading experience for the very important "parent and child reading time" that revolves around name and gender personalized online stories. Sparkle Reader's is a monthly, automatically renewing, subscription-based service that allows you access to an online library of child-name personalized content written by aspiring young writers and illustrators. The service is for children who have just started to learn how to read or for those children who love to have books read to them. The library content is categorized by gender and selectable theme categories and uses the child as a primary or secondary character usually illustrated as a cartoon-type animal. The text and illustrations are gender specific. Most stories also contain the name of your child's friend for even more personalization and learning fun. How much does a subscription cost?
We want as many children and their parents or caregivers to enjoy the Sparkle Reader's library so we have made our subscription affordable to almost everyone. Subscription cost is PER READER/PER MONTH in $CAD (Canadian) currency. Current prices in CAD currency are found on our home page and may change over time. Your small monthly subscription helps us offset some of the costs of maintaining this site, compensate our writers and illustrators and most importantly, grow our library for you and your child(ren).
I have more than one child. Can I start with one child then add the others later if I wish?
Absolutely. Simply sign up with one child. Later, go to the my account page and click on "Add'l Reader" and enter their specific information. Watch this video on how to add another reader.
If I add or remove a reader partway during a billing cycle, do you pro-rate charges or provide refunds?
The cost for adding a second or subsequent readers will be at a pro-rated amount per child (minimum charge $1.00 CAD) of the regular monthly charge. If you remove a reader partway during a billing cycle, any remaining balance will be retained as a cancellation fee.
How long do I have to sign up for?
Our program is a monthly auto-renewing service until you cancel. You pre-pay (pay in advance) for 1 month at a time. Your membership is valid for as long as payment is received when processed. You may cancel your subscription by going to the my account page.
Can I pay using a method other than a VISA or MasterCard credit card?
To keep Sparkle Readers affordable for everyone, we accept only VISA and MasterCard credit cards for payment. Our payment processing system uses 256bit Secure Socket Layer encryption by GeoTrust to provide you with latest in data encryption technology ensuring your personal data is safe and secure when using your credit card on our website.
Can I cancel anytime?
Of course. Go to the my account page and click on the cancel button. We will cancel your account/subscription access at the end of your current billing cycle. Watch this video on how to cancel your account.
Can you personalize any book?
Due to copyright issues and the nature of personalizing material, we can only personalize books that are specifically written and illustrated for Sparkle Reader's.
How often do you add books to the library?
We add books as they become available through our youth writers and illustrators. Generally, we add between 1 to 4 books per month. We would love to hear your suggestions about future material topics. Please reach us through our contact/support page.
Can I print any of the library content?
Sparkle Reader's does not authorize any copying, printing or transmission electronically or otherwise of any material on our website. Any contravention may result in the permanent termination of your subscription. All material is copyrighted and is meant to be used solely on the Sparkle Reader's website by authorized registered users.
I made a typing mistake when I entered my child's name/gender. Your system will not let me correct the error. What do I do?
The reader's name and gender fields are locked down once entered and cannot be changed by you. (Your child's friend's name can be changed at any time by you on the "my account" page.) Please contact us through our contact/support page and provide us with the correction(s) desired. We will notify you by email once we have completed your request.
